For people with a desire to go beyond dogmatic religious or atheistic beliefs to an experience of the "self" as pure consciousness prior to identification with the mind, and the physical and emotional bodies. Some concepts used to describe this (stateless) state are: enlightenment, salvation, realization of oneness, "god nature", etc.

Being our true nature is the "natural state", not something high and rarefied that comes through technical control or manipulation, but rather appears naturally if we just hang out and let everything be "as it is". States always pass, but what has always been there watching?

"Don't seek a state, seek the seeker"

For self-inquiry ask the question: "What am I beyond thought and emotion?" Don't try to search for an answer on the level of the mind. Try to be aware, literally, of the answer with direct experience.
