The Arlington "True"/Non-Dual Spirituality Meetup Group
|
For people with a desire to go beyond dogmatic religious or atheistic beliefs to an experience of the "self" as pure consciousness prior to identification with the mind, and the physical and emotional bodies. Some concepts used to describe this (stateless) state are: enlightenment, salvation, realization of oneness, "god nature", etc. Being our true nature is the "natural state", not something high and rarefied that comes through technical control or manipulation, but rather appears naturally if we just hang out and let everything be "as it is". States always pass, but what has always been there watching? "Don't seek a state, seek the seeker" For self-inquiry ask the question: "What am I beyond thought and emotion?" Don't try to search for an answer on the level of the mind. Try to be aware, literally, of the answer with direct experience. Vanessa Stone http://www.amalaf... "Kewl. My dad was a Baptist preacher. Now that I think about it, his symbolistic explanation of the Trinity helped me grasp the concept of God in more abstract ways. Basically he said that the symbols stood for thing as much as the thing stood for the symbol. It was a huge jump for me to grasp those concepts at the time, but it was a good exercise in abstract analysis. These days I just see God as a semantic problem, and not too relevant for my daily life."

"Hello! My name is Bob Hinkle. I'm an ex fundamentalist pastor who, in the early 70's, received an epiphany of a non-dualistic God. Naturally I didn't last long in my church after that. For thirty years I've been studying and writing on the subect."

"What I've read from Adyashanti & other spiritual guides has given me a purpose of understanding "God". As I remind myself, "I am awareness itself". These thoughts have been with me for years & finally able to discuss it in an open group. Thanks!"
